Goodbye Kunming, Hello Guangzhou

Four flights, and we still have all of our luggage. With my track record, that is a miracle.

Today, I would like to send my most sincere personal thanks to the Koi brand for making awesome scrub pants. They look like cargo pants, but they are made of super durable scrubs fabric. The best thing about them is that they dry very quickly. So quick that when your child's diaper fails (most likely a reflection of my lack of skills of putting it on, rather than the fault of the manufacturer), in Walmart and then again in the airport, you only have to walk around for about 5 minutes with a wet patch going down your leg. Then they dry, and look as good as new. Totally remarkable. Thank you, Koi.

Yesterday, we left Kunming and flew to Guangzhou. Honestly, we were absolutely thrilled to leave. Between the language barrier, the heat (the hotel air conditioning was basically a glorified box fan.....and we were on the 12th floor), and Russ being really sick for 24 hours, we couldn't wait to get out of there. Now we are in Guangzhou and back with the rest of the group. Yay! It is a joy to see everyone's family complete with their new son or daughter.

For as happy as we were to leave Kunming, it was a pretty rough transition for Ethan. The plane was scary to him, and he realized when we got to the hotel that we weren't going back for "momma". He cried for her until he was totally hysterical. Such a tiny heart to feel such a weight of loss. After awhile, though, Russ was able to get a little smile out of him and pretty soon he was back to his lively, joy-filled self.

One of the more fun aspects of Ethan's first plane ride is his new panda backpack. He laughed and laughed when we put it on.

Today, we went to the Guangzhou International Medical Clinic for his medical exam. He was so brave! The doctors and nurses there were so kind to the kids. One more thing to check off in the process.

I am VERY excited about tomorrow. We are going to the Guangzhou Folk Art Museum. Now why would we want to take a bunch of toddlers to a museum? Because this museum is an outdoor market with lots of things to see and lots of things to entertain the little ones. It should be a great time!

Ethan has added a few more English words to his repertoire. He knows dadda, red, blue, yellow, black, and "car beep beep". We also discovered today that he LOVES the Veggie Tales. He does this awesome dance reminiscent of Tina Turner's "Rolling on the River". LOVE IT. Here's a final picture of another of his new favorite past times - playing the drums on Daddy.
