Day 3

One great thing about traveling with a group is getting to know other families going through the same adoption process that we are.  Our group of adoptive families are wonderful!  It has been so amazing to hear their stories - they all sound remarkably similar to ours. One or both parents felt a pull to adopt from China while they were still children, then met their spouse and realized they had been put together for the same purpose. Several of the families are back for their second China adoption. We are all looking to them for advice! Many of our children are around the same age, so they will enjoy playing together when we all meet back up in Guangzhou for the final part of the trip.

The agency set up several sight-seeing trips for us, to help us understand and experience the culture of China before we pick up our children. To put it simply, China is beautiful. The people have all been so kind and welcoming, and the sights are amazing.

Yesterday, we walked on the Great Wall of China. It was Incredible! There were hundreds of people climbing up and down the steps with us (it felt like about 10,000 steps, but I guess that might be an exaggeration.....maybe.....). All of the Chinese families are on holiday this weekend, so they had their children with them to experience the wall. Every time I see a little boy, I wonder if Ethan has the same smile or the same laugh. Soon we will find out.....

More to come soon!

I am so glad you are getting to know the other families that are on this same journey. As you continue to prepare to meet Ethan, I pray for him to be prepared and eager to meet you. Sending big hugs to all three of you.
