Finding a Purpose

This past weekend, I had the great joy of catching up with a friend who I haven't seen in awhile. It's amazing how quickly we can pick right back up where we were, even when months have passed. I believe that is the true definition of "kindred spirits."

She shared with me an answer to a question I have often asked...

Two years ago, God called me to go on a mission trip to an orphanage called The Ark in Kiev, Ukraine. I had never been out of the country and suddenly God just kept putting it on my mind and heart so that I couldn't say 'no' to the opportunity. I definitely learned a lot about myself through the experience....and what an absolute joy it is to follow God's will. And I shared these things with my church family when I arrived back in the USA.

But I always have wondered why I haven't felt the calling to go back...not a twitch, or a thought, or anything.

However, a lady in my church felt called to go the summer after I went, and has felt a calling to continue going back year after year. My friend shared with me this weekend that this particular woman was able to counsel a young college student and help her to make some very tough decisions about her life with a godly perspective. She made a profound difference on this young woman's life.

Isn't it amazing how God works? It wasn't about me at all...I was just the vessel that brought this special lady to a college student in the Ukraine.

Proverbs 20:24 A man's steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand his own way?
