Yes, my intention is to post a devotion everyday....
We've had a few setbacks over the last week and a half. First, our flight back from Mississippi had some problems. It had mechanical FAILURE in Atlanta (before it ever reached the MS airport), then had a flat tire when it got to our airport....then when they fixed the tire, they broke another rod related to the tire...meaning that we were 5 hours late when we flew out of Mississippi. (And let me just say that it didn't help when the security lady said that she probably wouldn't even get on a plane that had had that much trouble...know what I'm saying?)
And yes, we missed our connecting flight in Atlanta. Never fear, though, because they put us on Standby. (In case you've never flown standby, I'll add that the last sentence should be read with a lot of sarcasm.)
So of course, we didn't make the standby flight either.
The good news is that Delta apparently had mechanical failures all over the world that particular day because HUNDREDS - I am completely serious...HUNDREDS of people from all the countries of the world - were having the same problem that we were.
And Delta was kind enough to put us up in a hotel.
Except that when you have hundreds of people trying to get on an itty bitty 12 passenger hotel bus...
children are crushed, old people pushed down to the ground, and one precious little girl in her sweet little dress said...or actually sobbed it best, "I just need to go HOOOOOOMMMMMEEEEE!"
So we got to the hotel by midnight.
We're on the phone with Delta through part of the night to try to fix the flight problem....
Then had the 4:45 am wake up call to take us back to the airport to catch the next flight.
That was last Monday/Tuesday. Guess what we've been having this week? Kids' Creative Arts Camp....that my husband is in charge of.
So we have spent 11-15 hours a day at the church for the last week preparing all of those things that are necessary to make the camp as smooth and organized as possible.
The wonderful news out of all of this is that Russ and I have had supernatural energy and strength - thank you, Lord!
And that we have 81 wonderful kids who have been having an awesome time learning about the amazing ways that they can use their gifts to praise God. We've had drama and puppets and handbells and Boomwhackers and choir and even a Field Trip!!
The really cool thing has been that only a few of the kids are actually from our church. This program has turned into an incredible outreach for kids in the community.
I was reading last night that God promised Abraham a child...and then waited 20 years to deliver His promise. By that time, Abe was old...Sarah was barren......
and that was the perfect time for God to create a miracle out of a problem that only He could fix.
So I'm using the craziness of this week to learn that it takes a problem - a BIG problem - to create a God-sized miracle.
Don't be discouraged! If you've got problems, then that just means that God has even more room to work His miracles!!
